Jytte introduces us to our presenters and the importance of this weeklong project in the time of COVID-19.

12:15 - 1:00 “What’s going on?” Dementia -
            Karin Thron
Dr. Thron will be presenting a short overview of dementia. She will make  distinctions between mild cognitive impairment, dementia, encephalopathy and delirium. She will discuss dementia as an umbrella term for the many disease  processes that lead to cognitive impairment and their final common pathway.  

1:00 - 1:30 “Purposeful life with dementia -
            Susan Balkman & Jytte Lokvig
            Susan and Jytte have collaborated on numerous presentations on national  platforms on the importance of finding a new purpose after a dementia diagnosis. 

1:45 - 2:30 Music and Songwriting/Poetry Intro
            Ken Hendricks & Nicolette Ketchum
            Ken and Nicolette invite you to participate in their creative workshops in part one of this two-part collaborative effort we will aim to draw together words, concepts, feelings and emotions sourced from the hearts of those living day to day life with the reality of dementia. Part two of this effort will happen at the end of our week together and will include the unveiling of an original song written from our musings. Nicolette and Ken look forward to creating with you.
